In coordination with Payne County, the Cities of Cushing, Perkins, and Yale, the Towns of Glencoe and Ripley, and the Public Schools of Cushing, Glencoe, Oak Grove, Perkins-Tryon, Ripley, and Yale are updating the Payne County Hazard Mitigation Action Plan (HMAP or Plan).
The Plan Update will address hazards that affect the area. The goal of the Plan Update is to minimize or eliminate the long-term risk to human life and property from known hazards through effective mitigation.
Hazard Mitigation Plans must be updated and approved by FEMA every 5 years
to remain eligible for grant funds through FEMA's hazard mitigation assistance program. An approved HMAP also earns application scoring points for a variety of other grant programs.
Public participation in this survey and / or attendance to the public meetings will provide the planning team valuable information that will be used in the development of the HMAP and educate the planning team's approach.
